Chinese smartphone brand Gionee launched new 6 inch phablet named Gionee marathon M5 Plus in an event held on last Monday. This handset is an upgraded version of Gionee’s Marathon M5, announced few months back. The most highlighted feature is its 5020 mAh huge battery. This may be the first smartphone to have such a massive power backup.
The phablet sports a 6-inch (1080×1920 pixel) Amoled display with a pixel density of 368 ppi. It is powered by an octa-core CPU paired with 3GB of RAM. The Marathon M5 Plus comes with 64GB of onboard storage which is user expandable via microSD card up to 128GB.
The Marathon M5 plus runs on android 5.1 lollipop with Gionee’s custom UI Amigo 3.1 over it. The device comes with an added software called ‘Ami clone’, which allow users to backup all their data when there is a hard factory reset. The OS also comes with a child mode that lets users limit the apps’ children access and the time they are allowed to use these apps. The M5 plus features a fingerprint scanner placed at the home button,which claims to have a response time of 0.1 second and fingerprint identification time of 0.38 second.
Gionee launched M5 plus in Chinese market with a price tag of CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,990). There is no official announcements on the release or availability of M5 plus in India.
